Adobe Photoshop Tutorial

How to Sharpen up your Photos >

Before:

After

The screen shots are from PShop 8/9 (CS2)

If your digital photos are dull, or lack definition, do this.

1 Image/Adjustments/Auto Levels

2 Image/Adjustments/Auto Contrast

3 Image/Adjustments/Auto Color

4 Filter/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask

I used a setting of 120% over a 0.3 px radius on a 300dpi pic.

I recorded these all in an “Action”, like this:

Called it “Auto”

So all I need do is select the "Auto" action, click "Play", and the pic is instantly sharpened.

I find that nearly all digital pics benefit from this, especially if you plan to publish them on the web.

The photo captures Blue Herons waiting for the tide to drop in the Ohiwa Harbour (NZ). I have seen up to 9 birds in a line of this fence.
